Marriage - what we need to know

We talked about marriage and really focused on what to expect when entering it and should our roles be as husband and wife.

I used the above video as reference  where "Dave Willis" explained what is the key points of a healthy marriage.

We focused allot on Ephesians 5 as explanation

Wives_________________

We started focusing on the woman and the biggest roles for woman to there husbands was respect and support

Ephesians 5:22-24 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Marriage Like Christ and the Church
22 Wives, be subject [a]to your own husbands, as [a service] to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as Christ is head of the church, Himself being the Savior of the body. 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also wives should be subject to their husbands in everything [respecting both their position as protector and their responsibility to God as head of the house].

Husbands_____________

The biggest roles for husbands was to love there wives as Christ loves the church and this love is giving up yourself for your wife as Christ Jesus gave himself to us, in short this focuses on to provide protection and adoration for your wives.

Ephesians 5:25-30 Amplified Bible (AMP)

25 Husbands, love your wives [seek the highest good for her and surround her with a caring, unselfish love], just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 so that He might sanctify the church, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word [of God], 27 so that [in turn] He might present the church to Himself in glorious splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy [set apart for God] and blameless. 28 Even so husbands should and are morally obligated to love their own wives as [being in a sense] their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own body, but [instead] he nourishes and protects and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members (parts) of His body.

Leave you parents______

We quickly focused on this that states that we should leave our parents behind and from they point of marriage they have no more saying in your marriage.

Ephesians 5:31 Amplified Bible (AMP)

31 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall be joined [and be faithfully devoted] to his wife, and the two shall become [a]one flesh.

Final Scripture________

Ephesians 5:33 Amplified Bible (AMP)

33 However, each man among you [without exception] is to love his wife as his very own self [with behavior worthy of respect and esteem, always seeking the best for her with an attitude of loving-kindness], and the wife [must see to it] that she respects and delights in her husband [that she notices him and prefers him and treats him with loving concern, treasuring him, honoring him, and holding him dear].

1 Peter 3:1-4Amplified Bible (AMP)

Godly Living
3 In the same way, you wives, be [a]submissive to your own husbands [subordinate, not as inferior, but out of respect for the responsibilities entrusted to husbands and their accountability to God, and so partnering with them] so that even if some do not obey the word [of God], they may be won over [to Christ] without discussion by the godly lives of their wives, 2 when they see your modest and respectful behavior [together with your devotion and appreciation—love your husband, encourage him, and enjoy him as a blessing from God]. 3 Your adornment must not be merely external—with interweaving and elaborate knotting of the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or [being superficially preoccupied with] dressing in expensive clothes; 4 but let it be [the inner beauty of] the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality and unfading charm of a gentle and peaceful spirit, [one that is calm and self-controlled, not overanxious, but serene and spiritually mature] which is very precious in the sight of God.

Dating, The biblical truth.

We talked about dating and started with the four types of love that people generally feel for the people close to them as it is crucial to understand them, to know what the impact is of our choices in dating.

Agape
  • Unconditional love that sees beyond the outer surface
  • The type of love that we must strive to have
  • All about sacrifice, giving and receiving nothing in return
  • Godly love
  • You have done nothing to receive or deserve this love and there is nothing you can do to lose it
Phileo
  • The type of love you have for a companion or friend
  • The love that Christians have for one another (Rom 12, 1 Cor 13)
  • John 15:12-14
  • Very unselfish.
  • The love soldiers have in war for each other
Storge
  • Family love
  • The love that parents have for there children
  • Unconditional
  • Accepts flaws and faults
  • Committed, sacrificial and secure
  • Drives you to forgive
Eros
  • Romantic love between men and women
  • It is a love that we easily fall into.
  • It focuses on self instead of the other person
  • If the person does not feel good about the relationship any more they will stop
  • Created for marriage
What is dating today in the world?
  • Self seeking, and fulfilling our own needs
  • Making excuses so we can find a middle point between marriage and being single that fits us
  • Taking what God created for marriage and use it, as we want to
  • No commitment
So what should we do?
  • Seek God and trust in him (Proverbs 3:5-6)*
  • God will provide you with a partner (Mark 10:6-9)*
  • Love God above all things and people (Mark 12:30-31)*
  • Keep our bodies pure and clean (1 Corinthians 6:18)
  • God has a partner for you (Genesis 2:18)
  • Ask the lord for a partner (Proverbs 19:14)*
  • God will give you, your hearts desires (Psalm 37:4) (Matthew 6:8)
How will we know?
  • Seek someone that also loves the God (2 Corinthians 6:14-15)
  • Seek someone that lives Christianity (1 Corinthians 5:11)
  • Avoid people with bad temper (Proverbs 22:24)
  • Inner beauty counts (1 Peter 3:4)
  • Good attitude (Romans 15:5-6)
  • Encourages you and is supportive (Philippians 2:1-2)
  • Don't be exclusive, care about others (Philippians 2:4)
  • Grow step by step (2 Peter 1:6-7)
What to avoid?
  • Wild parties (Romans 13:13)
  • Sexual relationship (1 Corinthians 6:13, 18)
  • 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
We closed off with the following scripture.

Ephesians 5:23-28Amplified Bible (AMP)

23 For the husband is head of the wife, as Christ is head of the church, Himself being the Savior of the body. 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also wives should be subject to their husbands in everything [respecting both their position as protector and their responsibility to God as head of the house].

He who loves his own wife loves himself.

http://www.divinerevelations.info/documents/ian_mccormack/ian_mccormack_testimony.pdf

Ek hoop ek het dit reg gedoen! Hier is daai boek van die movie waarvan Gerda gepraat het vir die wat wil lees!

[Edit:Jacques-2015-09-11]

Hier is die summary van die boek, Enjoy....

“A Glimpse of Eternity” is the incredible true story of one man’s encounter with death and the realms beyond it. Stung by five box jellyfish while diving off the coast of Mauritius, Ian McCormack later died in hospital and was dead for 15-20 minutes. During this time he experienced both hell and heaven and came back to tell the story! Dying was his doorway to true life and his story is transforming lives around the world as it touches on some of the deepest questions we all eventually ask.

We can all walk like Jesus

Hi Everyone

Last nite our home sell group discussed, who are we in christ, Jesus.

We looked at the following video from Todd White, that explains that we can all walk like Jesus but first need to fix our thouts so we can becoume heavenly mined and eartly increadable!

We also looked at the following scriptures from  the "Amplified Bible (AMP)" that gave us a good insight towards the topic

Romans 8:14-17 Amplified Bible (AMP)

14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
15 For [the Spirit which] you have now received [is] not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing son-ship] in [the bliss of] which we cry, Abba (Father)! Father!
16 The Spirit Himself [thus] testifies together with our own spirit, [assuring us] that we are children of God.
17 And if we are [His] children, then we are [His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His inheritance with Him]; only we must share His suffering if we are to share His glory.

Luke 12:31 Amplified Bible (AMP)

31 Only aim at and strive for and seek His kingdom, and all these things shall be supplied to you also

John 3:5 Amplified Bible (AMP)

5 Jesus answered, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, unless a man is born of water and [[a]even] the Spirit, he cannot [ever] enter the kingdom of God

Colossians 1:13 Amplified Bible (AMP)

13 [The Father] has delivered and [a]drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son [b]of His love,

Colossians 3:17 Amplified Bible (AMP)

17 And whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in [dependence upon] His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him

John 14 Amplified Bible (AMP)

6 Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.

12 I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father.

23 Jesus answered, If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him.

We then finneshed off with the following short video.
